buttercup!

I am so excited to share a sneak peek of what I have been working very hard on since the beginning of this year. Introducing, Buttercup!

I am in the final stages of launching a small-scale home bakery that specializes in using high-quality ingredients to create classic cakes and desserts. While I tend to have a vintage style that embraces heaping scoops of buttercream frosting, fluffy cake, and seasonal fruit, all of our sweets feel right at home in the fanciest of settings or being casually shared with family and friends around a table on Sunday evening. All recipes have been tested, and retested over and over again until they were just right and I can't wait until our signature style can be shared with all of you!

For updates, you can follow our blog and I hope to launch soon!

Hello, California!

We are lucky enough to be spending the week in sunny California! It's just unreal here and we are loving every second of it. Since our kids are "spirited" it has definitely had its ups and downs (mostly ups, though. We are now at the point where we can look back and laugh at the lows :)

The highlight for me thus far has been our trip to Tartine Bakery. My girl and I geeked out while we waited in line with our faces almost pressed against the glass as we watched the bakers work. Emma was completely floored when she saw them use their signature flower petal adornments on the tops of the cakes. "You can eat flowers?! I LOVE that idea!" she screamed. We were quite the sight and luckily we had a few others around us that didn't get too annoyed by our excitement. I kept telling people it was our first time there...like they cared or something. It might as well have been Disneyland the way we were carrying on. The boys met up with us in line and brought Emma a little bouquet of organic flowers from a nearby stand. So California! I tell you, this place...

More to come soon!

Lots and Lots of Pictures: Cinco de Mayo 2013

I told you there were lots of pictures. Some are overexposed and out of focus, but I love them all the same. I was so glad that we were all able to be together and partake in festive shenanigans on one of my favorite days of the year. What's better than ringing in the beginning of summer with family and loads of Mexican food? Nothing! I even got around to doing some of the things that I pinned this week. That has never happened! Needless to say I was pretty proud of myself. Amazing what a little tissue paper crafting at 5 a.m. will do for this Mom's self-esteem :)

The kids really had lots of fun getting in the spirit and Emma even referred to herself as the Mexican Princess of Cinco de Mayo all day. It was just about the cutest thing I've ever seen. And Bro in that sombrero? Too much, I tell ya. I love this big crazy family of mine and I'm so happy we all got to spend the day together. Adios, amigos!
