Gobble Gobble!

This year, more than ever, I have so much to be thankful for. It's just icing on the cake (or should I say, gravy on the mashed potatoes?) that I get to celebrate with my two favorite turkeys.

Renaissance Festival 2011

We made our first trip last weekend to the Renaissance Festival to visit with Gammy and Pops and what a day it was! I had never been before but I had heard stories. I can honestly say it was quite the experience! Emma just loved being in the "enchanted forest" and admired all of the princesses walking around. As soon as we got there she let us know that she needed a feather crown like Gammy. Pretty cute, right?

Baby boy was wide-eyed and loved being outside all day. We hardly saw him without a big smile on his face! It was a day full of people-watching, laughing and elephant riding. Yes, our girl rode an actual elephant! Kids these days...

Thanks for a fun day, Gammy and Pops! Until next year!

A little giggle to get the weekend started right.

Nothing but giggles and smiles to brighten everyone's day.

Family Portraits

We bit the bullet and finally got some family portraits done last weekend. I think the whole experience only reinforced the fact that I need to save my money and pay for an actual photographer.

Studio pictures are just...bleh.

BUUUUUUUT, I love seeing my family all lovey dovey and can't wait to slap this baby up on the wall.

UPDATE: Upon further review, Brandon and I have both agreed that we look like ridiculous farmers. He should have rolled his sleeves up and what I thought was a chic maxi looks like a prairie dress. Thank goodness I didn't braid my hair.

Why can't we be as cool as our kids?

Pinterest

Now when I say I love Pinterest, I really love it.
It's full of inspiration and a wonderful space for sharing ideas.

But if I see this image one more time I am going to throw my computer out the window.

Rainy Day

She was a little upset with me for forgetting her raincoat. Whoops!

Restoration Hardware Opening Party

My sister is kind of a rock star and is currently interning for the PR firm that was putting on Restoration Hardware's grand opening party last week. Knowing that I am a complete fanatic she let me tag along for the special night.
I tried my best to inconspicuously linger around Gary Friedman in case the moment for a photo op presented itself (it didn't), scanned the crowd of 800 for a glimpse of Margaret Russell (never found her but I bet she was really busy being awesome), saw Frank Billingsly and Dominique Sachse, enjoyed a menu created by Michael Chiarello (incredible) and stood completely dumbfounded at how beautiful the store itself was. It is a truly inspired space and I felt really lucky to be a part of such an awesome night.

Thanks, Mandy. I might not have a glamorous life, but I will try my best to score you some front row seats to Emma's dance recital.

Dad

Last Thursday my Dad suffered a mild heart attack and spent a few nights in the hospital before being released into our care at home on Sunday afternoon. It was scary and we are still trying to figure out what the next steps will be. Despite all of my nerves I can't help but be so very thankful that he is still here with us. It's going to be a tricky road ahead, full of big decisions and major lifestyle changes, but we are all in this together and plan to do everything we can to take care of him.

Send prayers, wish him luck and keep your fingers crossed. So far he is doing great and I have no doubt that he is going to get through this stronger and healthier than ever.

Over the Hill

My Mom might be an old woman now, but she is still the funnest person I know. Yesterday she returned from having, "the time of her life" (her words, not mine) in Utah with her dear friend and we tried our best to spoil her as much as we could. We sure did miss her!

Happy 50th Birthday, Nana!

I tried to keep things simple with a black and white theme. I took a tip from my main man, Nate Berkus, and picked up two dozen roses and clustered them in a short, wide vase. It was just the right amount of elegance for a very old woman's party.

I'm just kidding, Mom! You're only as young as your crazy grandkids make you feel :)

Park Days

There is nothing better than an afternoon at the park on a crisp, Fall day.

A Birthday Party

Our little buddy Matias celebrated his 3rd birthday on Saturday and as always, we had a great time. My girl definitely found a new partner-in-crime and they spent the entire afternoon running, laughing and having the most hilarious conversations. Having a three-year-old is a handful but it is such a fun age - you never know what will happen next!

Stiletto Stampede Houston

I was so proud of my sister and cousin for working so hard to put together such a special event. As you can see, these women and MEN got downright competitive when it came to the races. My girl got a rose for being the "most beautiful girl in the race" and brother just loved that he was outside in the fresh air. Those men in heels just crack me up...
