Weekend in Lafayette

We had a very busy weekend spent with lots of our favorite people. Emma was a flower girl for the first time and was absolutely precious. She charmed every single person at the wedding, including the ring bearer who never left her side. He made sure her drink stayed cold with a straw, got her refills of meatballs and Ritz crackers, served her a slice of cake, brought her napkins so her dress didn't get dirty, then got the napkins wet when she told him a dry one wouldn't do. It was hysterical to watch. She definitely had him wrapped around her little finger. She danced the night away with all of the kids and we couldn't have been more proud.

Now as for Austin, let me start by saying he is a cutie pie and I love him with all of my heart and soul.

At the reception he pulled down a tablecloth sending plates of food and glasses of wine onto the dance floor. Did I mention this was during the bride and groom's toasts?

I could go on, but I think that gives you a pretty good idea of the kind of evening Austin had. We caved and called Pops after the tablecloth fiasco and asked if he kinda-maybe wouldn't mind picking up the beast and bringing him home. Thankfully he agreed and we got to relax a bit before Emma's new shoes started to blister her feet and she collapsed into an inconsolable meltdown. Oh, kids. Gotta love them.

On Sunday, Pops made us the best gumbo in the entire world, and then we headed out to visit the great-grandparents. I feel really lucky that the kids get to grow up with such a big family that loves them so much. I couldn't ask for more.
